The Re-Invention will take place in 8 days
Current music: Bangles, Bangles and more Bangles.
I'm finally back. I'm really lazy when it comes to keep a journal, but my laziness hasn't been the only reason why I haven't blogged in a while. First of all, I moved to another city and was too stressed to write, plus I spent most of the time studying. "And why the hell were you studying in mid-August?", I hear someone asking. Of course, there's an answer, my lovely bug. Well, basically I failed two subjects last June [I didn't deserve to fail them, that's for sure] and I had to do an exam for each subject in order to pass. They made me come back to my old city just a few days after I left it, but it hasn't been a bad experience at all, cause I could spent some more time with my friends, and I realized for the 54768th time that I'm gonna miss them a lot. By the way, I forgot to tell you before, but I've passed both exams. I'm proud of myself for once in my life. lol

I'm completely addicted to The Bangles' Doll Revolution. It's such a great album. It's a real shame it was sooo ignored when it was released last year [even though the marvelous Something That You Said was a minor hit over Europe] I'm surprised it didn't got more media coverage cause it was the reunion album of one of the most succesful bands from the 80's. They've always been very underrated though. Back in the 80's music press was very harsh on them because they worked with external co-writers, and it was very popular to say that the reason of their success was their good looks. They even were accused of being replaced by "professional" musicians on studio. Not to mention that they were always compared to the Go-Go's, when the only things they had in common were that they were all-girl rock bands from Los Angeles. Critics and media assumed they were rivals and the Bangles vs. Go-Go's headlines were very common in papers and magazines, but the truth was very different. In fact, both bands were very friendly to each other and their members have worked together in multiple occasions. And contrary to popular belief, Susanna IS NOT the lead singer. She's the lead voice on jusr, but the record company released most of those songs as singles. But, who can be interested in knowing the truth?

Who cares if they don't have chart-topping singles anymore? They had enough of those in the 80's [Manic Monday, Hazy Shade of Winter, Walk Like An Egyptian, Eternal Flame, just to name a few], plus Doll Revolution shows the wisdom and growth that most of the succesful artists of the new century don't have. So, it's refreshing to find gems like this album nowadays. You can be proud, girls, you did an excellent job. You still kick ass.
