Hangover-ish thoughts
Sunday, January 30, 2005

My computer went nuts this week and it doesn't work, which sucks cause I can't live without it [how sad is to hear a 18 year-old saying that...] I'll try to fix it as soon as I get home. I'm currently in my old city because it was my friend Miguel's Confirmation and I would never lose that. It was yesterday. It was nice to get all dressed up. lol. After that we had dinner at a Chinese restaurant [I'm afraid I ate like 345 kg. of food lol] and later we went to Fran's lumber room [we used to spend a lot of time and have parties there because it's too big and cute to be used as a lumber room] and had a nice little party there. Just the six of us. It was really great to be together. I even danced, and I never dance in front of people [if you had the chance to see me dancing you'd know why I never dance in public lol] I didn't get drunk. I only drank until I felt I was sexy and wanted to make out with Fran [I'm sure that'll never happen, but we always flirt when we're tipsy... It's fun :P]
I'm staying at some kind of hotel for members of the Army. And this morning the maid almost caught me naked. lol. Well, not naked, but on my underwear. I was brushing my teeth and getting ready to have a shower and then I heard someone was trying to open my door. And when I opened it the maid [a 20-something girl] just started to laugh, so thankfully, she didn't get to see me on my underwear. I was gonna met my best friend Jaime this afternoon but he has a History test tomorrow and he can't go out. Shit. I suppose I'll go to Vicky's place and we'll probably rent a movie or play video-games. I miss doing things like that. I'm not suffering a hangover but I'm having the kind of thoughts you have the day after getting drunk. You know, "I'm alone, I'm a spinster, I'll die alone" / "My life sucks, I wanna change it so badly". Things like that. It's too boring to get into details.
Have to leave you now. I hope to be back as soon as possible. Try to get along without me. lol
Will you remember me?,
Santi

Three cultures, one city
Sunday, January 23, 2005

Current music: Only Heart, by John Mayer.

My parents woke me up early this morning. They asked me if I wanted to go to Toledo [a small city near Madrid], and I really didn't want to go, but if I stayed at home I'd have to hear a rant about how I don't care about my family and stuff like that, so I said I'd go. It was just a one-hour trip by car, but it was really boring. Thankfully, I brought my cd-player with me and I could listen to Morcheeba all through the way, which was terribly amusing. Then we arrived to Toledo. It's a beautiful place. In the past, and for a really long time, Christians, Jewish and Muslims lived in Spain peacefully, and this town it's the living proof of that era. It's nice to see three different cultures in just one city. We saw plenty of castles, walls and religious places, and then we came back home. That's pretty much what we did. lol
Mean Girls is brilliant! I thought it'd be just like any other teen flick, but it was much more intelligent than I thought. Lindsay Lohan is much better than I thought, too. So if you wanna have a few laughs on a Saturday night, just pick up this movie cause you won't be disappointed.
My P. E teacher, who's a total bitch, is currently out of Spain skiing with a group of students, so tomorrow we won't have P. E, which is super nice. We still don't know if my History teacher will be there tomorrow... Anyway, I'm leaving you now. I downloaded a Bangles concert and I really wanna see it! ^_^
Have dirty fun,
Santi

A fascinating Saturday night
Saturday, January 22, 2005

Current music: Radio, by Robbie Williams.

I've had the most boring school week ever. I barely sleep at night, so when I'm in school I'm like a walking zombie. Although everything hasn't been that bad, because we haven't had History since the year began. My teacher's husband is at the hospital, and they still couldn't find another teacher for us [that's how things at my school go... Reeeally slow...] I love History, but sometimes it's a little boring. Other school news: our trip to Lisbon is getting closer. I can't wait. It seems like more people has joined. I hope they'll pay this time...

This is my plan for tonight: I rented Mean Girls and made some jelly. Fascinating. Next Saturday will be much better. I'm visiting my old town! :D It's my friend Miguel confirmation and I need to see my dentist, too. It's gonna be great. I haven't gotten drunk in a looong time. Hey, don't look at me that way, it's a special day for one of my best friends and we need to celebrate it. lol.

Do do you like my new layout? It's taken a while to find it, but I really love it. I've said this before but I'll say it again: if Uma doesn't get a nomination for this one, I'll completely lose my faith in the Oscars [my faith for the Academy was seriously damaged last year -- The Return of the King was good, but it didn't deserve 11 awards!]

I have to leave you now. Mean Girls and a bowl of jelly are waiting for me. It's gonna be a cool night. Be well!

I'm searching for something beyond my understanding,

Santi

Walking on water
Tuesday, January 18, 2005

Current music: But Julian, I'm A Little Older Than You, by Courtney Love.
I can't believe it's still Tuesday. Sometimes it feels like time goes really fast and sometimes it feels like it goes slower than slow. School couldn't be more boring, and I can't say I'm too happy about how the rest of my life's going. I shouldn't be worring about things like these at 18. It's soon to suffer a quarter-life crisis. lol. It's funny to say this, though. I'm always complaining about how I'd like to change my life, but I'm doing nothing to change it. Like my friend Julio says, "you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket". I think he's completely right, but... how am I gonna change my life if I don't know what I want? I guess everyone has gone through this kind of crisis, but I've been feeling like this for a long time, and specially since early 2004. Anyway, I hope to feel better soon.
I went to see a movie today. I've always wanted to go to a theatre to see a film in its original language, but sadly my old city wasn't big or cool enough to have one of these theatres. Fortunately in Madrid there are plenty of those, so today I lost my virginity about this. lol. I went to see an Israeli film called Walk On Water. Last month I read its plot and thought it was interesting, and critics were enthusiastic about it. It's about Eyal, a hit man for Mossad that after the suicide of his wife receives a new mission: findind and killing a former Nazi officer. To reach his target he pretends to be a tourist guide to meet the Nazi's grandson, Axel, who's visiting his sister Pia in Israel. While Eyal is very sullen and has many old-fashioned values, Axel is a friendly, liberal gay teacher who's always doing what his hearts tells him to do. They couldn't be more different, but they slowly become friends. This is a truly wonderful movie. It has a little bit of everything: comedy, drama, mistery... The actors are fantastic. It's the first time we get to see a straight man and a gay one discussing about circumcision while they're naked. lol. There's also a priceless dialogue where Eyal feels curious about gay sex and asks Axel if he's a top or a bottom or if anal sex hurts. lol. The soundtrack is fabulous too, featuring Telépopmusik or Buffalo Springfield, among Israeli artist Ivri Lider. Plus Knut Berger, who plays Axel, is a total cutie! :P If you ever have the chance to see this movie, don't hesitate to do it. Meanwhile you can check its official site.
You need to be pure to walk on water,
Santi

In a "Different Light"...
Sunday, January 16, 2005

Current music: TKO, by Le Tigre.

My routine is back, so my usual weekends are. Yesterday I went to check the discount section in Madrid Rock and Fnac, and I couldn't be happier about my visit to the latter. I was just checking the B, like I always do, [I love "B" artists: Bowie, Bangles, Blondie, Belinda Carlisle...] and boom... The Bangles' Different Light. I've been looking for this album for A LONG TIME, but it was impossible to find it. Actually, The Bangles' 80's albums are really hard to find [it's taken me a lot of time to find them] So you can imagine my bliss when I saw it... for 6.95 €!!!! After this shock I saw Air's Talkie Walkie, and got it as well. This was me when I was walking back home: ^_^

Today was a little boring. I woke up at 15:00 [I know what you're thinking], didn't eat much, spent the afternoon on the net... And I thought I should do something or the evening/night would be awful. So I went to rent a movie. I got The Believer. God, what a great movie!!! It's based on the true story of a young guy, Danny, who's a member of a nazi gang, but has a secret -- he's Jewish. When a New York Times jounalist knows about him, he writes an article and after this... I won't tell you. lol. Watching this film I reminded some things everybody knows, but it's good to remind them every once in a while:

- Ryan Gosling is one of the most talented young actors of this generation. Plus he's gorgeous.
- Billy Zane still looks good.
- Summer Phoenix should be a star like his brothers Joaquin and the late River.
- Hebrew has such a beautiful writing.
- Nazis are a bunch of bastards that deserve to die.

I'm the only one who does believe,

Santi

Straight porn in my computer
Thursday, January 13, 2005

Current music: Pride, by Susanna Hoffs.
I haven't blogged in a few days because there's nothing new to tell you about. I'm having a hard time at school cause is deadly boring and it's nearly impossible for me to keep my eyes open while I'm in class [especially in Economics, Philosophy and Maths -- a big "yuck!" to all of them] Anyway. We've had bad news about our trip to Italy. It's cancelled, because just 16 people paid the trip, when there were 26 people willing to take part in it. But we're gonna do a cheaper trip to see if more people take part. Lisbon is the strongest contender now. I'm so glad about that. I love Portugal. I've had the chance to visit the North of the country many times, but I've only been to Lisbon once [when I went to see Madonna's Re-Invention Tour last September -- check this entry to read about it], and I didn't have time to see the city because I spent less than a day there.

Something disturbing. A couple of days ago, my brother asked me if he could use my computer for a few minutes. I said ok, go ahead. But what I didn't expect it was that he wanted to visit a porn site. A straight porn site. Ugh. lol

Now some advice. Don't ever do your homework while you're listening to Kim Wilde. I did it yesterday and when I checked my homework this morning it was a nonsense. But I'm sorry, I can't listen to You Came or Never Trust A Stranger without singing [or screaming] lol
Never trust a stranger with your heart,
Santi

Welcome, routine
Monday, January 10, 2005

Current music: Forever More, by Moloko.

Kill me!!! I hate coming back to routine. I'm really tired. I have a cold and was really hard to keep my eyes open while I was in class. Anyway, I guess it's nice to see my classmates again. The reaction to my new hair colour was so-so but definitely much better than with my relatives. I still love it, and don't care about what they say. lol. There's a rumour circulating around my school: they want to cancel our trip to Italy! They can't do that, I was excited about it. Frankly, Italy is not my favorite country in the world [actually I think it's kind of overrated], but I wanted to go abroad this year [the two one-day trips to Portugal last year don't count] I hope they find a solution to whatever the problem is. I have to leave you. As you can see my day hasn't been too exciting and I just want to rest tonight.

Forever joy,

Santi

Ignoring my resolutions...
Friday, January 07, 2005

I haven't blogged in a few days because I thought it wouldn't be very interesting to write the same things every day. We've rented many movies, gone to the cinema a couple of times and eaten plenty of unhealthly food. And meanwhile, I've been breaking some of my New Year's resolutions. Let's make a list [you know I love lists]:

- Save some money: Oops... I've bought a CD [The Donnas' Spend the Night], a CD-single [Minority by Green Day], a DVD [The Rules of Attraction, one of my favorite movies, which is also based on one of my favorite books], two t-shirts [although buying clothes was one of my resolutions], seen many movies, had dinner and gone to pubs... And obviously, these things aren't free. Thank god my grandmother has given me some money!

- Get a boyfriend: I'm still a tragic spinster. Oh well.

- Not having crushes on strangers: I have a HUGE crush on the guy who works at Bershka [a very popular clothes store] This isn't something new. My cousin and me have been "visiting" him for like a year and a half. Doesn't it sound pathetic? Yeah, probably, but if you had the chance to see him you'd see he's so hot that it hurts. lol

This is all I can tell know. I'll be back in Madrid tomorrow. God, I really don't want to start school. I still have to do homework... Economics [ugh!] Anyway, I'm gonna try to enjoy my last night here. Hope to see you soon.

Don't ever act the way I do,

Santi

Day I
Saturday, January 01, 2005

Well, there's nothing really interesting to tell you about. What I basically did to celebrate the new year was watching movies: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which was really marvelous. Those visual effects were amazing, and the relationship between Jude and Gwyneth was hilarious. Angelina makes a little role and she looks very campy in that outfit. Giovanni Ribisi is also on this movie. I think he's cute... am I weird? lol; Kill Bill Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, I've seen both movies before but Uma is so fantastic that I could see these films twelve times and still love them. I swear I'll kill myself if she and Quentin don't get a nomination for this one!; And I'm currently watching Clueless... My god, I *love* this movie. I saw it a million years ago [I think I was like 12], and seeing it a second time it's like being a pre-teen again. lol. Anyway, I have to leave you now. We have to decide if we're gonna see Enigma or Legally Blonde. Bye!
I'm a virgin who can't drive,
Santi
PS - Happy new year, my lovely bugs!
