I've become a lazy fucker ever since I finished my exams. I've taken two VERY long naps today, but I'm still a little bit exhausted. I went to see a movie, Volver by Pedro Almodovar, who is one of my favorite directors. It came out nearly three months ago but I was too busy to see it then, and Dah didn't want to see it, and I wasn't into the idea of seeing it on my own. But I didn't want to spend another day locked at home, so I went anyway. I hadn't gone to the movies on my own in six months, and I had forgotten how depressing is to do such thing. The crowd at the theatre was mostly old. Like straight couples well over 60. It was kinda embarrassing to be in the middle of that. lol.

I loved the film even though it takes a little time to take off. The actresses are wonderful, and they totally deserve the Best Actress award they've just won at Cannes Film Festival. Penelope Cruz is beyond excellent. One of her best performances, hands down. The screenplay is hilarious and has lots of one-liners which I have to incorporate to my vocabulary. It comes out in the US in October. I hope Sony is smart enough to promote this one heavely to see if they can pull a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and score some major nominations. Academy Award nominee Penelope Cruz? Oh yeah! ^^

You...turn...me...on!
Monday, May 29, 2006

I'm preparing a kicking ass plan, which will remain secret from now. I get excited just thinking about it. I have a few plans for this summer, but if this one turned out well, I'd be the happiest boy on Earth. God, please, let this happen! ^^

This is one of the best singles of the year so far. It is currently at #3 at Billoboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart, and it will probably spend several weeks at #1. Its performer has proved to be a talented and successful actress, and now you have yet another reason to like her even more. Someone MUST give her a recording contract. Do you want to find out who I'm talking about? Press play.

Hard Candy

Hard Candy

In Internet slang, hard candy is a term used to define underage teenage girls. Hard Candy is also the title of an excellent film directed by first-timer David Slade, who had been directing music videos and tv spots until now.

The movie starts with a close up of a computer screen where we see a chat conversation between Jeff [Patrick Wilson], a fashion photographer in his early 30's, and Hayley [Ellen Page], a mature 14 year-old girl. They arrange to meet at a coffee shop, and she soon asks Jeff to take her to his home, where he usually does his photo sessions with young models. After a couple of drinks, Jeff starts feeling bad, and passes out. When he awakens, he finds himself bound to a chair at the mercy of Hayley, who accuses him of being a pedophile, a molester and even the murderer of a young girl who has been missing for days.

Hard Candy is one of those films which can be both disturbing and fascinating. Eric Campos from FilmThreat said it best: "This candy is hard to handle, but at the same time it's oh so sweet". It is extremely well-written and you can't take your eyes off the screen. Patrick Wilson [Angels In America, The Phantom of the Opera] is fantastic and believable as Jeff, but the real breakthrough of the movie is 18 year-old Ellen Page. Todd McCarthy from Variety called her performance "spectacular", which is far from being a gratuitous hyperbole. Page, in spite of her young age, is already an experimented actress whose credits include over a dozen films, including Wilby Wonderful [which won her a Genie Award nomination] and X-Men: The Last Stand, where she plays Kitty Pride. I hope Hollywood treats her like she deserves. She is set to star alongside two-time Oscar nominee Catherine Keener in An American Crime, the true story of Gertrude Baniszewski, a housewife who kept a teenage girl locked in the basement of her Indiana home during the 60's. Good luck.

So many stuff, so little strength
Thursday, May 25, 2006

I swear I'd love to tell you all the details about my current events, but the sad thing is that there is nothing to tell you about. I spent the last weeks focused on my school work, and it seems my brain has lost kind of its life as a result. But I have to do a lot of stuff in the next few days, but I feel I don't have the strength to do them right now. This list would include:

- An appointment with my dermatologist.
- Having a blood analysis to see if I have tuberculosis.
- A much-needed haircut [even though many people say I look better this way]
- Dyeing my hair. I haven't dyed my hair in a year and I really need a lighter colour to light up my life [ok, I know that sounds corny]
- A little trip [?]

I want to see the new X-Men, too. I just hope this fucker is available this weekend.

Free!
Tuesday, May 23, 2006

So this is it. I finished high school. I'm not graduated yet cause I didn't pass my exams [lol], but today was officially my last day in high school. It's such a weird feeling. I'm not going to write any deep thoughts on this cause I honestly don't have an opinion about it.

I'll have to study during the summer but there'll also be room for fun, that's for sure. I have to do LOTS of stuff. And I can't wait.

Current music: Nothing But Song, by Siobhan Donaghy.

I had an appointment with my reumatologist today, to see if there's actually a reason for having a bad knee. She was so very nice and talkative. It turns out that my bad knee may be linked to the throat problems I've had since I was a child. Don't ask me why. I have another appointment with her next month. I also need to have a blood analysis to see if it could be tuberculosis [!!!] Now I'm scared. lol

After that I went to check some DVD's cause I haven't had any free time in weeks and I really missed doing that stuff. I got one of Hayao Miyazaki's masterpieces, Mononoke Hime. I finally found the 2-disc edition! =)

When I was coming back home I saw this singer/actor who was a teen idol for a very short time in the 90's and then disappeared, but he made a comeback a couple of years ago in a Fame-ish tv show, which was really successful until he joined it. It was cancelled shortly after, and the group he had formed with two castmates disbanded as well. Poor guy. lol. He was a bit short but gorgeous. I also saw a VERY pretentious filmmaker. I love to see famous people acting like if they were people, too.

Let these agents come and trace me,

I plead insanity
Tuesday, May 16, 2006

We all go through times of crisis, and some of us tend to overreact a little bit. But sometimes you just can't help to feel terribly overwhelmed by a situation, and you feel nothing's going to save you. I don't care about my school results anymore. I just want to finish everything for the sake of my sanity.

HELP!!!

You have the right to feel sorry for me.

Save me

Current music: Twist of Fate, by Siobhan Donaghy.

God, this was like the most boring weekend ever. At least being forced to stay at home made me study a little bit more. I had two very weird dreams involving someone trying to steal my wallet, tornadoes and more freaky stuff. I really do think I have a problem. Dah has a new fuck buddy to add to his list. Lucky fucker. A Turkish guy is harassing me via msn messenger. I wonder why ALL the men who have shown a certain degree of interest in me are seriously fucked up.
Save me.

Stealing my cable
Thursday, May 11, 2006

It turns out that some as yet unidentified fucker[s] were stealing resources from my building's computers and therefore Internet didn't work properly for almost two weeks, hence my long absence. It's not like you missed anything special, to be honest. I went to the movies with Dah twice, and studying hardcore the rest of my time. I'm about to lose my sanity. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
