Oh god, where do I start. I got a ticket to see Madonna in Amsterdam. I had some problems contacing the seller through eBay, so I decided to call him as he had included his phone number on his ad. I talked to him and he was really nice, even though I've never liked people with an Andalussian accent lol He told me he was coming to Madrid this weekend, and we could make our transaction in person [which, by the way, is strictly forbidden by eBay lol] I met him on Sunday. He was even nicer in person, and I'd lie if I said he didn't turn me on. lol He introduced me to his friends, who were also really nice, and we went to see a really cool street market I hadn't seen before. We flirted. A LOT. I joined them for drinks afterwards. And then we had lunch. I felt so good. It's very hard for me to meet new people, but they all were so outgoing that it wasn't awkward at all. We went to his friend's place to see a movie. We kept flirting. It became a little more explicit when we were on the couch watching a movie. Holding hands, grabbing asses.. You know, that kind of stuff. He tried to kiss me, but I was distracted and didn't notice. I'm so stupid lol I had to wake up early today, so I decided to leave around midnight. I didn't know where the metro was, so he kindly offered himself to show me the way. Nedless to say he had a second intention lol We made out while we were going down in the elevator. Fuck, it was so great. He said he had been longing to kiss me since he first saw me :P We kissed again while we were saying our goodbyes, and a group of stupid ravers who were about my age started to yell at us, like if they were trying to frighten us or something. It was pathetic.

So yeah, I kissed someone I barely knew. I feel slutty. lol But he was lovely, and I'm willing to do it again when we see each other in Amsterdam. Damn, I cant stop thinking about it. But I'm still impressed. I mean, it's something I didn't expect. The whole day was like being on a Sandra Bullock flick. But -- back to reality. I'm starting my exams in four days and I'm absolutely scared. Duh, I can't wait for next week.

I think I'm paranoid
Thursday, August 24, 2006

I don't know if it's because my exams are getting closer, but I'm in a permanent state of complete craziness. I can't sleep, and I can't eat. And I just hope everything goes according to my plans, but I'm scared to death. Let's be positive for a change.

David, the guy I like, opened up to me yesterday, and I'm still shocked. Not only by what he said, but also because he had never been this honest to me. He told me about his troubled past [we all have one! lol], and sounded so fragile I almost cried. He's still unsure about what to do with this other guy who's after him. He wants to "test" him first by telling him his "secret" and see his reaction. I know this will make me sound like a bitch, but I hope he goes all outraged and refuses to see him again lol No, seriously, I'd love to have anything with him but it's not a big deal if we're just friends, or friends with benefits, or whatever. He's a good guy after all :)

The other day I was at this store which had plenty of second-hand movies which were still sealed or in fairly good condition. But then I realized that like the 90% of the movies they had there were porn. I was terrified. There were a handful of dirty old men there, and it was disgusting. When I was at the counter paying for my movies [I got "Street Fighter II. The Animated Movie" and "Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion"], I overheard the shopkeeper having a very deep conversation with another man about their favorite pornos, and it was disgusting. I have nothing against people who watch these movies, but you could tell that those two spend most of their free time watching porn, and that's sad.

Social drinking
Sunday, August 20, 2006

I love it when you just go out to see a movie and end up getting home at 5 in the morning. I went to see a movie with Ainhoa, and then we had a few drinks, and then dinner. While we were having dinner she received a called from a friend [who's a former classmate of mine], and we met her. We went to "have a drink" and end up visiting like four different bars. The one where we stayed for most of the night was this Arab-style bar who had a weird smoke in the air which made you feel dizzy in a good way. There was this gorgeous waiter, too, so it was perfect. I befriended a really nice French girl whose name I don't remember. I love the way French people speak English. They have such a cool accent. One of her friends, who was of Indian heritage, told me that "Shanti" means "peace" in her language. I've been using that word as a nickname for many years, so I thought it was cool. I called Xer on my way home and it was great, and when I got home I called Dah and talked for a while. I actually felt bad because while I was on the phone I heard my brother was getting ready to go to work. I waited like an hour to go to bed because I was still drunk, and I hate being hungover, so I always wait a bit before going to bed.

The guy I like decided this weekend if he has a new boyfriend. I haven't talked to him yet, so I'm beyond nervous.

Oh, I'm nervous
Thursday, August 17, 2006

I had a haircut today, and I don't like it. It looks like I have a beret or something. Bad the worst thing about it is that the hairdresser's pants kept falling down for some strange reason and I actually got to see his butt crack [ugh!] and pubic hair [doble ugh!] I actually wouldn't have minded if he were a young, attractive man, but he's well over 60 and not particularly attractive.

Marta, my cousin Cristina's best friend, was in Madrid today. She had to take a train and wasn't sure about how to get to the station, so I went with her. She's so damn great. We had a coffee together, and I also had a king-size croissant which was delicious but way too big. I swear it almost killed me. lol

Also, my chances with this guy I like are not dead yet. He hasn't decided if he wants to have something serious with this "person" he met, so who knows. He says he has another problem, too: he's very attracted to me. Well, he didn't say "attracted", but I'm too shy to use the words he actually said :P

My exams are in two weeks, so I think I'm about to die.

Two years, and counting
Tuesday, August 15, 2006

I started keeping this blog on August 15, 2004.

2 years and 219 posts later, I'm still here.

Yeah, I'm surprised, too.

I'd really like to write something thoughtful and inspiring about how helpful this blog has been for me, but I don't want to get corny.

"I've met someone"
Sunday, August 13, 2006

It's funny how I was so sure about 2006 being The Year. Well, it turns out that we're eight months into 2006 and --oh, the irony-- this year is just like every other year. Dull, uneventful and lonely. I haven't achieved anything I wanted. I'm still excited about starting university and all, but I'm somehow sick of always wanting something which keeps running from me. It looks like it won't happen anytime soon.

My point is -- don't you just hate to hear the words in the title of this post from someone you like, but directed to someone else? That's why I'm so angry today. If there is a God, he/she/it must hate me with a passion.

Englishmen
Friday, August 11, 2006

Yesterday I did something I had been avoiding for months. I met Paul on MSN and he said if I wanted to go out for a quick drink and I didn't want to be rude, cause he's tried to meet up several times before and I always said no. So I agreed to see him. I thought it was something stupid at first but it turned out pretty well. I was nervous cause I've told myself a thousand times I'm over him but I felt I could fall for him again if we started seeing each other again. But I was wrong. We had a lovely evening and we both were very chatty and had a nice long chat. It's still awkward to think I used to like him, but it'll be cool to have him as a friend.

Has Robbie Williams lost his mojo? The hitmaker, who's responsible of some of the finest pop songs of the last decade [namely, "Angels", "Feel", "Let Me Entertain You", "Rock DJ", "Radio", "Millenium"...] is set to release a new album, tentavely called "1974" this October, only one year after his last offering, "Intensive Care", which was a bit disappointing for me. I was really excited when I heard he was doing a pop/dance album with people like William Orbit and Pet Shop Boys, but I don't know what to think now. The first single is called "Rudebox", and is a pastiche of pop, electronica and rap [!!!]. The chorus is kind of catchy, but the verses are bland and cheesy, and the video is boring and unoriginal [not to mention his outfit...] "The Sun" called it "the worst song ever". I wouldn't go that far, but this is probably one of his weakest singles ever. I hope the rest of the album is worth listening. It would be really sad to see a great artist like him turning into a mediocre shadow of what he used to be.

A few reasons why you shouldn't spend August in Madrid
Wednesday, August 09, 2006

If you've ever been forced to spend August in a big city you'll know what I'm talking about. And if you haven't, take this as a warning.

God knows I love Madrid to death, but sometimes it's a bit too much for me. Especially during the summer. First of all, there's this unbearable weather. If you dare to go out for a walk you will probably melt or simply die. Not to mention if you travel by metro. That's a whole different story. It's funny how people can be rude and unhygenic at the same. If your feet smell like bad cheese, please, do not wear flip flops. Same goes for sweaty armpits and sleveless t-shirts. There's this new invention called deodorant, but a lot of people seem to be unware of its existence. And what about tourists? They're everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

You can't say you haven't been warned.

7 a.m is my favorite hour of the day
Sunday, August 06, 2006

Current music: H.W.C., by Liz Phair.

Blogger hates me, and that's a fact. I haven't been able to use my account lately, hence the lack of posts in the last few weeks. It's not like you've missed anything big or something. I'm back in Madrid, and I'm forced to take 4 hours of class every day, and I can't begin to describe how shitty I feel. Waking up at 7 in the morning in August could kill anyone. Dah is vacationing outside Madrid so my social life is dead. But once I take my exams next month I'm going to have a non-stop party for days. Because I'm worth it.
