I Would
Good things come to those who wait
How stupid can I be
It's raining men, hallelujah
Mijn reis aan Amsterdam
Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...
Slutty
I think I'm paranoid
Social drinking
Oh, I'm nervous

I can't relate to 99% of humanity

The line I chose as the title of my post is said by Seymour [played by Steve Buscemi] in the film adaptation of Daniel Clowes' graphic novel Ghost World. I saw it again tonight and it made me think. Sometimes I feel the same way, and it's very frustrating. I may have high standards, and I swear I want them to be lowered, but I just can't fight against that. And that's why it's so hard for me to find friends, let alone a boyfriend. Sometimes it's fun to be a social outcast, like Enid and Rebecca, but on the other hand it makes you feel lonely. And, for a second, you wish you were ordinary, but then you think again and you decide to stay true to yourself, even if the price is very high.

Scream
Monday, July 24, 2006

I'm having an Scream marathon tonight, which is my favorite film trilogy. It's a real shame Neve Campbell hasn't gotten much recognition for her other roles. She was excellent in Robert Altman's The Company, a movie which was unfairly underrated, and her turns in Wild Things or 54 were also noteworthy. Wes Craven is also one of my favorite directors: The Hills Have Eyes, The Last House on the Left, The Serpent and the Rainbow, A Nightmare On Elm Street, Shocker or Red Eye prove his brilliant, unique style. Scream was a comeback for both Craven and the teen slasher genre. With a fairly modest budget of $15 million, it eventually grossed over $160 million worldwide. Its legacy is undeniable, and Hollywood executives thought they could match or surpass its success by creating a new wave of teen-oriented horror movies. Some were decent [I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend] and some mediocre [too many to name them all...], but none of them has managed to stand the test of time.

Star Wars? Lord of the Rings? Indiana Jones? No, Scream is the ultimate trilogy for me.

Alive and well
Saturday, July 22, 2006

I'm not dead or anything, it's just that I had to overcome a series of unfortunate events, like Blogger forbidding me to write new posts, etc. I'm having a good time over here. The weather is being good [even TOO good], I'm watching quite a lot movies and falling in love with strangers. Oh, and texting Paul every single day. I know that's something highly irresponsible and masochistic in so many ways because he broke my heart and stuff, but he's a great guy after all, and I do want to be friends with him. And it's not like I will fall head over heels again, I'm not THAT stupid.

I hope you're having a cool, relaxed summer. You deserve it.
