Current music: John Wayne Gacy, Jr., by Sufjan Stevens.

I'm sorry for being a little fucker and not updating in four days, but my life consists on going to school, studying at home, taking Math lessons with my tutor and nothing else, so I guessed you wouldn't like to hear me whining about it every day. I'm still excited about 2006 for no reason... Well, there's actually a couple of reasons but I'm not telling you... Not just yet.

Despite one Utah theatre's denial to screen the movie and the ridiculous and widely ignored boycott from conservatives, Brokeback Mountain is surpassing everyone's expectations in the US. It placed #9 at the weekend box office, a very impressive position considering it's only showing in 483 theatres, among other reasons. It also has the highest per-screen average of the whole chart [about $12, 000]. But there's even more good news. As of Sunday, Brokeback had grossed $22.5 million, which was already excellent. But it has remained in the Top 10 during this week, grossing over $600, 000 every day, so it'll have reached the $30 million mark by this Sunday! In addition to this, the Golden Globes are taking place next Monday, and Brokeback is the front-runner with 7 nominations, and it'll surely grab some of those. Plus the nominations for this year's Academy Awards will be announced on the 31, and it's probably getting plenty of nominations, so many people are predicting it'll have grossed between $50-$75 million by Oscars day, and those numbers could be even higher if it gets some major awards... This is beyond amazing. Who would've have thought we'd be talking about this movie sweeping at award shows, grossing filthy amounts of money and being the front-runner for the Oscars just three or four months ago? I just can't believe it. I'm seeing it in eight days, and I'm wickedly excited about it even though I've read the short story it's based on several times and I know pretty much every single detail about the film... It's just the kind of movie which touches you deeply. I can't explain it. This movie has broken many, many boundaries. I'm one of those naive guys who think the world is really changing its view on what used to be seen as "bad"...

Are you one of them?
